Question: 832-4112
Can I bring caladium indoors now? Bill, Tulsa, Ok

Mort's Answer:
While Caladium esculentum is a foliage plant, it is a heavy feeder. It should be kept at 75 degrees indoors. It should be put in clay pots with the new soil that is at least a third sand and good potting soil. It could use liquid fertilizer every second watering. Prayer plant is a close relative that can take temps of 60 in the winter and no fertilizer in the winter. Maranta leuconeura and other Prayer species curl up at night. Although the leaves rate not as vivid as Caladium, they will thrive indoors.
